Right on the heels of Carmelia Gates Costa (age 104) is Mafalda Rando Strauss who turned 100 this past July. She’s pictured hear with her niece, JoEva Picone Flettrich. Mafalda is the daughter of Domenico Rando and Rosa Palmisano, both natives of Ustica. I just spoke with JoEva the other day and she said Mafalda was excited about being at JoEva’s house for the upcoming Endymion Mardi Gras parade. Still going strong! And, as it turns out, Mafalda is second cousin to Carmelia. That’s some strong genes in that family!
