Wow! We absolutely loved our short visit to Ustica. My great grandparents Gaetano Le Barbera and Guiseppina Manfre sailed from Ustica, eventually settling in New Orleans, in 1866. We fell in love with the place from the minute we stepped off the ferry from Palermo. Pietro Bertucci was a wonderful host and guide. Thank you so much, Pietro, for your hospitality. We will never forget the Grotta Segreta. Jana is still raving about the abundance of wild herbs (and the pasta finnochio at Restorante Guilia!) and the beauty of the sea. Salvatore was a great captain and guide aboard the “Tweety.” I could feel some strong family ties through our short 24 hour stay. We will be back!
