I would like to thank you and Maria Compagno for hosting the party last week. There were at least 100 people in attendance. All were very interested in sharing information on their Ustica ancestry and plans to visit the island. My wife and I would like to visit Ustica later this year and we would like to hear from anyone who might be able to help. We live near Washington, DC and are willing to assist visitors from Ustica.
I appreciated meeting with you at Maria’s home the day following the big party. It provided an excellent opportunity to discuss the details of your plans to encourage more exchanges between Ustica Americans and those who live on Ustica.
In particular, I would like to visit with descendants of my family. My great grandfather, Angelo Palmisano, came to America in the mid 1800’s. My mother’s grandfather also came from Ustica. His name was Felix Coltraro. In a future E-mail, I will provide more information on my family history in the hope of learning more about my ancestors and perhaps communicating with my extended family.
