Lena Prima at the New Orleans Bocce Club
The New Orleans Bocce Club www.nolabocce.com is hosting a fundraiser featuring Lena Prima on Thursday, August 22, and I’m contacting you today to drum up support from the greater Usticese community. Please go to their website for details of the event and consider coming out to support an Italian-American institution here in New Orleans.
The Prima family has a lot of connections to Ustica. Lena is the grandaughter of Angelina Caravella from Ustica and some of her Prima cousins are connected to the Tranchina family. And, of course, she is the daughter of Ustica’s most famous son, Louis Prima. Those of you descended from Luigi Caravella and Margherita Valenti (Lena’s great grandparents) should check out the Valenti family chart at www.ustica.org. Just last week, I found the marriage record of the parents of Margherita Valenti, tying her mother, Maria Rizzuto, back into the Rizzuto family of Ustica and associating the family with the wave of Usticesi migrants that settled in the Porto section of the city of Naples in the mid 1800s. Congrats if you are able to keep up with that storm of info! Breakthroughs like this are nirvana for genealogy nerds like me but understandably a bit difficult to comprehend in a single paragraph.

Complimenti se riesci a tenere il passo con quella tempesta di informazioni! Le scoperte come questa sono nirvana per i secchioni della genealogia come me, ma comprensibilmente un po ‘difficili da comprendere in un singolo paragrafo.
